“How Anna Belle Came To Be On That Island”
is a daring adventure
(about a daring adventure!)…
“How Anna Belle Came To Be On That Island” is a narrated musical tale—told by Anna Belle herself—about her adventures on the high seas and how, eventually, she came to be found living, quite happily, all by herself on a tropical island.
Her story sounds like tall tales as she describes surviving storms, shipwrecks, and pirates, but for every amazing adventure she shares that her ability to survive—and even excel—came from years of practice at a variety of eclectic, unexpected skills. The story ends with Anna Belle encouraging the audience to study and practice so they too can achieve surprising success of their own.
This work is being composed and arranged for both orchestra and concert band by composer Arthur Breur. It will be accompanied by a coloring book and storybook illustrated by artist Amanda Volk, and also will be available for early performances by ensembles around the world as part of a music consortium.
